The Top 5 Places to Get a Speeding Ticket in Florida (2025 Edition)

julio 22, 2025

For over three decades, The Ticket Clinic has been deep in the weeds with Florida traffic data. Not just reading the numbers—studying them. Tracking the FLMHSV (Florida Uniform Traffic Citation) data is practically in our DNA at this point. And now, for 2025, we’ve got a fresh set of insights. Some expected. Some… not so much.

Back in March, we rolled out the top 15 counties in Florida for overall ticket volume—no surprises there. Big counties, big numbers. But today’s breakdown? Different story. This time we filtered out every violation except speeding, then layered in population data to get a per capita rate. We also calculated that traffic tickets in general are up for the 4th consecutive year.

Why? Because raw ticket volume alone doesn’t tell you where you’re most likely to get pulled over. But per capita tickets? That’s the real danger zone. It levels the playing field—whether you live in a county of 1 million or 3 million, it shows your odds of getting hit with a citation.

And surprise: Duval County is leading the pack.

#1 – Duval County
45,925 tickets | Population: 1,031,000 | 44.55 per 1,000 residents

Duval. The sleeper county. Not even close to the largest, but absolutely crushing the competition on ticket density. Jacksonville’s wide expressways and sprawling city layout give the illusion of freedom—but trust us, the speed traps are relentless. Officers along I-95, the Dames Point Bridge, and even the Arlington Expressway are clocking vehicles non-stop. This isn’t anecdotal—it’s mathematical. If you’re driving fast in Duval, you’re rolling the dice.

#2 – Palm Beach County
64,241 tickets | Population: 1,534,000 | 41.87 per 1,000 residents

Palm Beach stays on-brand: tough on speed. From I-95 to the Turnpike, enforcement here never eases up. The mix of snowbirds, retirees, and tourists creates a pressure cooker of unpredictable driving behavior. Local officers know this, and they’re posted up at all hours. Boynton Beach, Delray, and even sleepy suburbs? No one’s safe. Second place, but barely.

#3 – Orange County
53,015 tickets | Population: 1,471,000 | 36.05 per 1,000 residents

Orlando brings the heat. Tourists, theme park traffic, and regular rush hour chaos make Orange County a ticking time bomb. People get impatient. Visitors get lost. Locals try to get home 10 minutes faster. Meanwhile, enforcement stays sharp—especially near the attractions, on the 528, and throughout Altamonte and Winter Park. It adds up, fast.

#4 – Miami-Dade County
93,891 tickets | Population: 2,687,000 | 34.94 per 1,000 residents

Miami’s a beast. The sheer volume of cars is next level—but even adjusted for population, this county still cracks the top five. That’s saying something. From the Palmetto Expressway to US-1, it’s a checkerboard of high-speed opportunity and heavy enforcement. One wrong move in Coral Gables or Little Havana and you’re meeting the business end of a radar gun.

#5 – Broward County
59,243 tickets | Population: 1,963,000 | 30.17 per 1,000 residents

Broward rounds out the list with a firm grip on fifth. Ft. Lauderdale traffic never really sleeps, and neither do the ticket books. The Sunrise corridor, the Sawgrass Expressway, Dixie Highway—there’s no shortage of high-speed hotspots. But enforcement here is smart and stealthy. Just when you think you’re in the clear? That’s when the lights flip on.

Florida’s Speeding Landscape by the Numbers

Out of 744,082 speeding tickets issued statewide in 2024, these five counties alone were responsible for 316,315—more than 42%. That’s a staggering concentration. But don’t mistake it for coincidence.

What these counties have in common: major metro areas, layered road networks, commuter culture, and aggressive law enforcement strategies. If you live in one of them—or just drive through—you’ve got to stay sharp.

The Ticket Clinic Has Your Back

We don’t just study the numbers—we fight back against what they mean for drivers. Whether it’s Duval’s shock rise or Miami’s unrelenting ticket churn, we know how to navigate the system. We’ve helped over 5 million drivers fight speeding tickets, avoid points, and protect their records.

If you’ve been hit with a ticket—don’t panic. Don’t just pay it either. A citation can cost you more than a fine. Insurance rates, license points, job risks… it snowballs fast.
