On <strong>July 14<\/strong>, statewide press conferences launched the week\u2011long campaign, with officers ready to issue warnings, citations and engage in public education about the dangers of speeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locally, the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office (and other local departments) are fully committed as well. While last year\u2019s \u201cOperation Summer Slowdown\u201d in Hillsborough yielded over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamhcso.com\/News\/PressRelease\/9042696f-e897-450e-9e2f-0e6df1284c33\/en-US\">4,000 traffic stops, 301 citations and 47 arrests,<\/a> this year they\u2019re diving back in\u2014reminding drivers to watch their speed and their habits behind the wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Counties with announcements include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinellassheriff.gov\/Contents\/ContentItems\/4y39da6k8yt75xy5fvesehvhxg\">Pinellas County<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-it-matters\">Why It Matters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unsafe Speeding Factor In Traffic Accidents<\/strong>. This isn\u2019t business as usual; it\u2019s an all-hands-on-deck effort to catch speeders and aggressive drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)<\/strong> will deploy extra troopers along interstates, toll roads, and other high-crash corridors.
