Across the country, the police are using clever content to educate people about public safety issues, give some more transparency into their day-to-day tactics, and give a humble brag about their busts. In July 2024, Florida’s new stricter street racing laws<\/a> went into effect and it seems like the authorities have wasted no time getting to work.. Last week, we watched a rather shocking video featuring the Florida Highway Patrol in the Miami area on the channel NickOffDuty<\/a>. All you need to do is watch this short video to see that FHP is not playing around. Here\u2019s how you can expect to be dealt with if caught allegedly participating in a street race or takeover.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Drone Units Are Being Used To Bust Street Racing Events<\/strong><\/p>

One of the most interesting parts of the video is seeing how drones are being used to provide real-time surveillance without being detected. Drones are less detectable and are much easier to deploy than helicopters giving the police a new edge when coordinating busts. Just because you don’t see police units doesn’t mean they’re not watching.<\/span><\/p>

These are VERY Organized Busts\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

It\u2019s very clear in the video that FHP has the capability to execute some extremely coordinated busts. Often acting on social media information regarding a racing event, they can quickly stage a large number of units on the ground and in the air to converge on an unsuspecting gathering. Note how they will swarm around \u201cchokepoints\u201d from the front and the back cutting off escape routes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Expect to Be Detained, Searched & Prepare To Be Questioned\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Most people may not know that just spectating at an illegal street racing event could get you in trouble. It\u2019s very clear from this video that FHP is putting everyone in cuffs and questioning them. From the looks of it, they seem to be giving first-time offenders caught in the area allegedly spectating a \u201cdon\u2019t let us catch you again\u201d warning. We wouldn\u2019t count on them always being so nice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Cops are making plenty of non-street racing-related arrests\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

It\u2019s not exactly surprising that cops are finding weapons and drugs while detaining suspects in unlawful assembly\/street racing investigations. Auto theft recovery units are working closely with these coordinated busts and recovering vehicles at these events.<\/span><\/p>

Running isn\u2019t a good idea <\/strong><\/p>

As you can see in the video, this is a very organized raid. The cops anticipate some people are going to make a run for it. For this reason, they have additional units waiting behind ready to pounce with K9 units. Air units will also track anyone who attempts to flee or ditch anything illegal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

How To Avoid A Street Racing Charge<\/h2>

Be aware that law enforcement are using these tactics to bust street racing events using tougher laws. The best thing to do is to stay away from these events are together and keep the racing on the track. The penalties include massive fines, vehicle impoundment and potential jail time. Judging by this video and all the headlines about these busts, the cops aren’t messing around.<\/p>
