No more just a ticket\u2014now, jail time, fines, and court appearances await those who push limits too far. We first covered this topic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketclinic.com\/es\/blog\/new-stricter-penalties-for-drivers-caught-over-100-mph-50-mph-over-the-speed-limit-in-florida\/\">back in June<\/a> and also did an analysis of how this law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketclinic.com\/es\/blog\/an-overview-of-super-speeder-laws-across-the-nation-how-floridas-new-law-compares\/\">compares to others<\/a> in the United States.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enforcement Is in Full Throttle<\/h3>\n\n<p>Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), sheriffs, and prosecutors wasted zero time. By early <strong>September 2025<\/strong>, the media had reported many cases ranging from mild to wild.<\/p>\n\n<p>Central Florida\u2019s State Attorney Monique Worrell revealed that at least 7 drivers had been arrested one the first day of enforcement\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/09\/08\/is-floridas-new-super-speeder-law-making-a-difference-heres-how-many-arrests-local-agencies-have-made\/\">one hit <strong>155\u202fmph<\/strong>, all were above 100\u202fmph.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>FHP shared a ride\u2011along video showing troopers in action\u2014one driver was clocked at 155\u202fmph, leading to an immediate arrest and <a href=\"https:\/\/mynews13.com\/fl\/orlando\/news\/2025\/07\/22\/fhp-ride-along-shows-how-law-enforcement-is-combatting-super-speeders\">vehicle impound.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>In Collier County, three drivers were arrested for speeding over 100\u202fmph, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gulfcoastnewsnow.com\/article\/arrested-collier-county-super-speeder-law-florida\/65596280\">one father driving with his family aboard.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>In the Jacksonville area alone, As of Sept. 2, the Florida Highway Patrol provided the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/09\/08\/is-floridas-new-super-speeder-law-making-a-difference-heres-how-many-arrests-local-agencies-have-made\/\">following statistics:<\/a><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>18 people were cited for speeding above 100 miles per hour<\/li>\n\n<li>12 people were cited for going 50 mph over the speed limit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office issued nine criminal citations with one arrest by Labor Day.<\/p>\n\n<p>The St. Johns County Sheriff\u2019s Office said it has made four arrests, including three people accused of driving over 100 mph.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shock and Surprise on the Road<\/h3>\n\n<p>Drivers were visibly surprised by the tough new rules. One motorist in Orlando was clocked at 104\u202fmph just two minutes after the law kicked in. Others hit speeds\u2014106\u202fmph on a motorcycle, 113\u202fmph in Orange County\u2014and were arrested instead of ticketed. Mandatory court appearances replaced routine fine.<\/p>\n\n<p>A notable case: Kiara Molina Rucci, arrested driving 116\u202fmph in a 65\u202fmph zone, pleaded emotionally\u2014saying she was rushing because her son was injured by a dog. The trooper did not relent.
